What is fixed wire testing?
Fixed Wire Testing otherwise known as an EICR test is the testing and inspection of all electrical installations in a building to ensure they are compliant with current regulations and that they are safe.
Is fixed wire testing the same as PAT testing
There is a common misconception that Fixed Wire Testing and PAT testing refer to the same thing. However, while they are similar, there is a significant difference between the two. PAT testing is the process of testing electrical equipment that can be moved, while a Fixed Wire Test is a test carried out on an electrical installation that is fixed to a building.
How often should a fixed wire test be carried out
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to how often Fixed Wire Tests should be done. The frequency depends on several factors, including the establishment’s size and type, the type of electrical installations, and the maintenance period.
