Where Can You Install Solar Panels
You may have only seen PV panel installations on pitched roofs, but these systems can be successfully installed on a wide variety of roof types.
Pitched Roof – This type of roof is perfect for a solar panel installation if they are facing the right direction, Solar is installed on a pitched roof with standard metal fixing frames that hold panels in place directly on top of your existing roof tiles.
Flat Roof – Panels are laid in tubs or on pitched frames to allow the panels to achieve the optimal tilt to maximise sunlight.
In-Roof – If you are getting a new roof fitted you can save money by installing in-roof solar, this system replaces a section of tiles with solar tiles. these tiles lie flush with your regular tiles.
Solar Slate – if your property is listed and you cant get regular panels installed, solar slate tiles are an option, these panels have the appearance of a roof tile but can generate solar power.
FAQs
How long does solar take to install
This is dependent on your system size but a typical 3.5kW system will take our engineers 2-3 days from start to finish, you will be given a more accurate time frame when we come out for a survey.
What is battery storage
Battery storage allows you to store excess electricity produced by your solar panels. With the correct inverter, you can also charge the battery during off-peak hours (subject to the right tariff) and then use this stored power during peak times. Battery storage can be expensive however it maximises the efficiency and potential gains of the system.
Do I need battery storage
To have an effective solar system you don’t need a battery, however this doesn’t mean that it isn’t very beneficial, a battery allows you to store excess electricity and use it at a later date when your panels are producing as much electricity. if you use a lot of electricity in the evening when there isn’t much sun battery storage would be recommended.
Can I charge my car with solar
You can charge your car with your solar panels however you must make sure that you have the correct charger and tariff combination, the growing range of intelligent chargers can work smartly to deliver power to your EV in the most economical way. Our surveyors can advise on this. To read more about EV chargers read our article.
Are solar panels actually worth it
Solar panels may not be worth it for you if you can’t afford the initial set-up cost and aren’t eligible for any government grants and if you don’t use lots of electricity your payback period will be higher. However, if you use a lot of electricity in your home and would rather spend your money on solar panels than electricity bills solar is the way forward.
What is MCS accreditation
The MCS (Microgeneration Certification System) are an independent certification system which certifies renewable energy products and installers. Being MCS certified demonstrates that you install/manufacture to the industry-expected level of quality every time.
Do solar panels come with warranty
With our installs, we provide a warranty, the duration is discussed during the quote as different components come with different warranty periods. This allows our customers to have peace of mind while they save on electricity.
